In fact, I’ve enjoyed using the Freestyle Tri-Torch on several high elevation adventures. I’m always impressed by the high performance of the Tri-Torch’s vertical burn-chamber. The Swedish Fire Torch orientation creates a very efficient thermal column which drives extra air into the base of the fire which compensates for the lower concentration of available oxygen. It’s like a turbocharger for the high country! Even though the Tri-Torch works fantastic with wood I like to also bring alcohol both as backup in case of wet weather and for convenience on those mornings when I want my coffee made as quickly and easily as possible. The TOAKS Ti Siphon Alcohol Stove is a perfect pairing both for its lightweight small size as well as for its speed and efficiency. I’m always blown away by how quickly my water boils and how it doesn’t seem to care about cold weather nearly as much as other alcohol burners.
