- Small Cowboy Plate nests perfectly in the 8″ Frying Pan.
- Large Cowboy Plate nests perfectly in the 10″ Frying Pan.
- Thick hard anodized aluminum (twice the thickness of typical pie tins) inside and out.
- Accepts a seasoning (recommended if it is to be used to cook out of).
- Our Universal Pan Lifters make it so you can use your Cowboy Plate as a second frypan.
Our premium Deep Cowboy Plates are hard anodized inside and out. Enjoy the cooking performance of aluminum’s excellent heat conducting properties yet your food is in contact with a highly conductive scratch resistant ceramic layer. Our Cowboy Plates tolerate very high temperatures and have the perfect micro structure to accept a seasoning if so desired.
Disclaimer: Inherent to the manufacturing process, there are unavoidable cosmetic marks on the rim (outside edge) of the Deep Cowboy Plates. Also, the grey shade (color) of the anodizing may vary from plate to plate. This does not affect usage or long term durability and we feel it is worth it to have the hard anodizing finish inside and out.
Note: This product is not dishwasher safe – hand wash only.

(verified owner)Firebox products are always great. I have four stoves, and I love them. But perhaps the most versatile item Firebox sells is the humble “Deep Cowboy Plate.” You can use the plate as a cooking pan or skillet; you can even season it to make it non-stick. With the wide lip, you can use any pliers-type multi-tool as a handle. You can also use the plate as a lid, even for baking — put coals on top, or build a small fire. If you want to get serious, you can use binder clips to secure the lid, or to secure two plates together.
My favorite use for the Deep Cowboy Plate is as a dinner plate. If you’re a through-hiker who consumes most of your meals out of a pouch, or if you dine alone, and consume your meal directly out of your cooking vessel, you perhaps have no need for this plate. But if you and your companions want to have a real meal with real food — meat and potatoes, fish over a bed of rice, or spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread — this plate is hard to beat. It’s full-size, deep enough that you don’t have to worry about some of your meal tipping out on the ground, and sturdy without being overly-heavy. It also comes in handy for food preparation, or for serving real food to your companions.
